Trinamool BNP leader Shamser Mobin Chowdhury has been arrested by the police. He was arrested from his residence in the capital’s Banani on Thursday (October 17) afternoon.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Joint Commissioner Rabiul Hossain Bhuiyan confirmed his arrest and said that he is being taken to the DB office. Earlier, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police raided the house of Shamser Mobin Chowdhury at noon.
Shamser was accused of preventing Mobin Chowdhury from going abroad last Wednesday afternoon. He was sent back from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport that day, he wanted to go to Thailand for his wife’s treatment.
Shamser Mobin Chowdhury was the Vice Chairman of BNP and in 2015 he resigned from all posts of BNP. Then in 2018, the Alternative Movement led by former President AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury joined Bangladesh. Finally, in September 2023, he became the Chairperson of Trinamool BNP.
