Chief Justice Syed Refat Ahmed dissolved a bench of the High Court in the case of discourteous behavior with a lawyer in the court.

After receiving the complaint, the Chief Justice removed Justice Atwar Rahman Khan from the concerned bench on Tuesday. In his place, Justice KM Hafizul Alam has been assigned to the bench. Besides, Justice Kazi Zeenat Haque has been assigned as a junior judge of the bench. Sources related to the court have confirmed this information.

Earlier, some lawyers filed a complaint with the Chief Justice.

It is said that since the beginning of the 7th Bench (Main Building) vacation jurisdiction of the High Court Division, extensive irregularities have been observed in the preparation and hearing of the agenda of the case. Despite informing the concerned court through the representatives of the Bar Association, no effective action has been taken to resolve these issues.

Barrister Ashraf Rahman brought the matter to the notice of the court during the mension this morning. He respectfully apologized to the court at the beginning and said, “Honorable court, the bench officers of your court irregularly did not put all the submitted cases in the daily agenda properly. Many lawyers have been deprived of this.’ In response, Justice Ataur Rahman Khan raised his hand to the lawyer and said, ‘I was the leader of the bar. Who dares you to speak against my court. Get out of my room, you bastard, I’ll slap you to the police.’

When the lawyers present in the court strongly protested the matter, he left the courtroom.
