Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Adviser Md. Nahid Islam commented that the interim government does not consider Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the father of the nation.
He made this comment in response to a question from reporters at the secretariat on Wednesday.
Awami League made Bangabandhu controversial. Nahid Islam said, “Awami League was in power as a fascist party.” They were in power by disenfranchising people and by murdering them and killing them. So who did they call the father of the nation, what day did they declare as national day, there will be no continuation of that in the new Bangladesh.
He said, ‘We want to restructure Bangladesh. As a result, we have to bring a new perspective to history.’
Three also said, ‘Government without vote has no legitimacy. A lot has been done in that time. All will be restructured and reassessed.’
In response to the question whether this government considers Bangabandhu the father of the nation, he said, ‘Of course not.’
Then we will not have any father of the nation, Nahid Islam said to the question, ‘Many people have contributed in the history of our struggle for this land. Our history didn’t just start in 52. We have anti-British struggle, 47 and 71 struggle, 90 and 24. We have many founding fathers. We got freedom as a result of their struggle.’
The information adviser said that the national days which are being canceled were imposed by the Awami League. That was fascist behavior. The government thinks they are unimportant, so they are being scrapped.
He also said that a new day may come based on the mass uprising.
