Runway operations will be closed from 1 am to 4:30 am for maintenance related to ILS Category-II on the runway.

Shahjalal Airport Executive Director Group Captain Kamrul Islam said in a message that runway activities and flight operations will be closed for 14 days from 1 pm to 4:30 pm.

During that time, all flight landing and take-off operations will be suspended. As a result, the flight schedule is likely to change. Notums have already been issued to inform all airlines and organizations.

Airport authorities have taken necessary measures in coordination with all airlines and stakeholders in this regard.

Airlines have also been directed to inform passengers about their flights in advance.

Passengers are also advised to call the Airport Call Center on 13600 to confirm their flight schedule.

One of the routine tasks of an airport is runway maintenance. During this period some maintenance work related to Instrument Landing System (ILS) Category-II of the runway will be carried out. These include runway centerline lights, touchdown zone lights, addition of stopway lighting systems at the ends of runways 14 and 32 and overall maintenance of the runway.

ILS Category-II helps an airport land aircraft in very low or zero visibility conditions such as fog or snow.
