Protest against Jamaat Amir’s statement

Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami on the constitution. Shafiqur Rahman’s comments were protested by the families of the members of the Constitution Drafting Committee of ’72. In a statement on Saturday, they said, the constitution was written on the soil of independent-sovereign Bangladesh.

Jamaat Amir said on October 9, ‘The constitution of Bangladesh was written on Indian soil. Therefore, our constitution did not find Bangladesh as the homeland. In protest of this statement, it has been said that the constitution written in the blood of lakhs of martyrs contains the ideal philosophy of the great liberation war. On March 23, 1972, the Constituent Assembly issued an order to frame the constitution. The formalities of drafting the constitution begin with the promulgation of orders. Bangabandhu was elected as the leader of the parliamentary party in the Constituent Assembly.

It is also said that in the formulation of the constitution of independent Bangladesh on April 11, 1972 Dr. A committee of 34 members was formed under the leadership of Kamal Hossain. The members worked day and night to compose it reflecting the dreams and aspirations of the people. After long discussions and debates, the Constitution Bill was passed by the Constituent Assembly on November 4, 1972. The Constitution came into force on the first Victory Day, 16 December 1972.

The statement was given by Dr. Barrister Sara Hossain, daughter of Kamal Hossain, Tanya Amir, daughter of Amir-ul Islam, Nasreen Islam, daughter of late Prof. Nurul Islam Chowdhury, Mainur Rahman, son of Hafez Habibur Rahman, Masud Akand, son of late AK Mosharraf Hossain Akand, Mainul Islam Chowdhury, son of late Prof. Islam Chowdhury, Anisur Rahman son of late Sheikh Abdur Rahman and Dewan Aftabul Alam son of late Dewan Abul Abbas.
