Nationalist lawyers demand withdrawal of all cases of Tariq Rahman

Bangladesh Nationalist Lawyers Forum has demanded the withdrawal of all cases filed against BNP Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman.

Senior Advocate Zainul Abedin, president of the organization, made this demand in a written statement on behalf of the Nationalist Lawyers Forum in a press conference organized at the South Hall of the Supreme Court Lawyers Association on Monday.

He said, I demand immediate withdrawal of all false cases filed against Tariq Rahman. Otherwise, the legal society will be forced to take to the streets again.

Zainul Abedin said in a written statement that various political parties and students have struggled for 17 years against the fascist government for democracy. BNP and Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman have led this struggle with various political parties. All cases filed against Tariq Rahman are political. According to the instructions of the fugitive Sheikh Hasina, the head of the fascist regime, the formal judgment of several false cases has also been announced.

He said, “It is with great regret that we notice that the appropriate authorities are not taking any action regarding these political cases filed against Tariq Rahman.” We demand immediate withdrawal of all false cases filed against him.

Zainul Abedin warned that if all the cases filed against Tariq Rahman are not withdrawn, the legal society will be forced to take to the streets again. At the same time, the fugitive Sheikh Hasina, accused of the July genocide, should be brought back to the country and face trial. Besides, we demand that the interim government should complete the necessary reforms very quickly and announce the electoral roadmap for the return of democracy in the country.

Barrister Kaiser Kamal, Secretary General of the Nationalist Lawyers Forum, said in a press conference that many High Court judges have broken the code of conduct. The demand for the removal of the judges who broke the oath continues.

Supreme Court Bar President AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon said that BNP has demanded the removal of partisan judges. We also agreed with this demand.

Senior Joint Secretary General of Nationalist Lawyers Forum and Member of Enrollment Committee of Bangladesh Bar Council Senior Advocate Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajal, Advocate Mohammad Ali and other leaders of various levels of the organization were present in the press conference.
