The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah dropped a 73-ton bomb on the central intelligence headquarters.
According to the IDF, the attack was part of a broader Israeli effort to disrupt Hezbollah’s military capabilities.
The latest attack on Thursday night targeted a tunnel and supply line along the Lebanon-Syria border.
The IDF said Israeli warplanes bombed a Hezbollah military installation on the outskirts of Beirut. Where it is believed that the possible successor of the slain leader of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrullah, was present.
In this regard, according to a report of the Israeli news media, Yenet, on Thursday night, the Israeli Air Force dropped a total of 73 tons of bombs on a bunker in the Dahiyeh region. Which is identified as the main intelligence headquarters of Hezbollah. It is believed that Hassan Nasrullah’s successor, Hashem Safiddin, and other high-ranking members of Hezbollah were also present at the complex.
Although the media did not say anything clearly about the results or damage of this attack.
The Israeli military has recently been conducting an operation called ‘Northarrow’ in Lebanon. As part of this operation, the Israeli forces are carrying out heavy attacks on Hezbollah targets in different regions of the country.
Earlier, several high-ranking Hezbollah commanders were killed in a series of attacks in Beirut on September 27. Among them was Hassan Nasrullah, Secretary General of Hezbollah. After Hezbollah retaliated, Israel launched a ground attack on southern Lebanon from October 1.
Lebanese health minister Firas Abiad was quoted by local media as saying that the total number of dead in Lebanon has reached 1,974 as of October 3 due to Israeli attacks.
The Israeli military has so far reported strikes on several thousand Hezbollah targets. Observers are commenting that the second Lebanon War of 2006 has never seen the intensity of attacks.
