The Israeli army, which has been fighting the Palestinian Authority for nearly a year, said on Thursday that an attack three months ago killed three senior leaders, including the head of the Hamas government, in Gaza.
The military said the attack killed the head of the Hamas government in the Gaza Strip, Rawhi Mushtaha, the security chief of the Hamas political bureau, Sameh al-Siraj, and commander Sami Odeh, news agency AFP reported from Jerusalem.
“Mushtaha is one of Hamas’ most senior operatives,” the military said in a statement. He directly influenced Hamas’s decisions regarding the deployment of forces.
