This has increased the number of dengue patients to 40,405 this year. Three dengue patients have died in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of dengue deaths has increased to 199 this year
This information was informed in a press release about dengue sent from the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Department of Health on Thursday (October 10) evening.
It is said that 583 more people have been admitted to hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours due to dengue. During this time, three people died of dengue. One of them lives in Dhaka, one in Barisal and one in Khulna division.
In the last 24 hours, 246 people from the two city corporation areas of Dhaka have been affected by dengue. Also, 163 people in Dhaka Division, 22 in Chittagong Division, 62 in Barisal Division, 27 in Khulna Division, 29 in Mymensingh Division, 27 in Rajshahi Division and 7 in Rangpur Division have been admitted to hospital.
From January 1 to October 10 this year, a total of 40 thousand 405 people were admitted to the hospital due to dengue. Of whom 63.30 percent are men and 36.70 percent are women. Besides, 50.30 percent of the 199 dead are men and 49.70 percent are women.
Dengue outbreaks occur every year during the rainy season. From June 2023, the dengue situation became dire. Last year, 321 thousand 179 dengue patients were admitted to the hospital and received treatment in the country. Out of which 100,800 people are in Dhaka and 211,171 people are outside Dhaka
Last year, 3 lakh 18 thousand 749 dengue patients returned home after recovery. Besides, 1 thousand 705 people died of dengue. Which is the highest number of dengue deaths in a single year in the country’s history.
In 2019, 1 lakh 1 thousand 354 people were infected with dengue and about 300 people died. In 2020, dengue transmission was low during the corona pandemic. The following year in 2021, 28,429 people were infected with dengue and 105 died. In 2022, a total of 62,382 people wereospitalized due to dengue, of which 281 died.
