Six areas of Chittagong city have been listed as ‘red zone’ due to worsening dengue situation.
The district civil surgeon’s office has listed these areas as high-risk areas due to increased dengue infection rates.
The Office of the Civil Surgeon published a report on October 8 identifying Kotwali, Baklia, Bayezid Bostami, Bandar, Pahartali and Khulshi as the most vulnerable areas.
In Chittagong, dengue infection rate increases in September and October.
According to this report, a total of 515 dengue patients have been identified in 23 areas of the city in the month of September alone.
Among the areas listed as high risk red zone, Kotwali has the highest number of dengue cases at 106.
Besides, 103 people in Baklia, 76 people in Bayezid Bostami, 33 people in Bandar, 32 people in Pahartali and 23 people in Khulshi have been infected with dengue.
At the same time, five areas with medium high risk of infection have been identified as ‘Yellow Zones’.
Seven areas with mild risk have been listed as ‘Blue Zone’ and four areas of the city as least vulnerable to dengue have been listed in ‘Green Zone’.
