Nahid Islam, Adviser on Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology and Information and Broadcasting has called upon the followers of Sanatan religion to celebrate Durga Puja without any disturbance. Pointing out that Puja will be celebrated in a more joyful atmosphere in the future, Nahid said that the interim government has taken maximum precautionary measures in organizing the Puja festival.
On the occasion of Durga Puja, Adviser Nahid said these things while visiting various pujamandaps in Dhaka on Thursday (October 10).
Nahid said Durga Puja is one of the biggest festivals of Hindus. The government has taken all measures to ensure that this puja can be organized smoothly. People will practice their religion unhindered. People of all religions and castes are our Bangladesh. Since independence, the Hindus of the country have been tortured, their property looted. They were attacked but they did not get any justice because the people who will be tried were involved in the attack. Those in power have no right to be in power if they cannot ensure the safety of the people.
The advisor said, those involved in the incidents of unintended attacks and vandalism on Hindus after August 5 will be brought under exemplary justice. For that purpose, work is going on with the trial process. We feel that these incidents will not decrease if we do not set the example of the society in the strictest trial of such incidents. Besides, arrangements will be made to compensate the affected Hindu brothers. It is the government’s duty to return what is due and your wealth. Also, we seek your cooperation so that the communal harmony of Bangladesh remains intact.
Nahid also said that some parties want to gain political advantage by creating differences between us, destroying temples and idols. Everyone should be careful about that. We are monitoring these issues very carefully. We are very strict on these matters.
Adviser Nahid Islam visited Sri Sri Yut Madan Gopal Jiu Vigraha Tagore Temple in Sutrapur, Shankhanidhi Temple in Wari, Puja Mandap organized by Young Starts Puja Committee at Central Women’s College Premises in Tikatuli and Harijan Palli organized by Sri Sri Sarvajanin Durga Puja Committee at Bangshal.
