Case against 17 policemen including OC killed in crossfire in Mymensingh

A case has been filed against 17 people, including former OC of the district intelligence wing, Ashikur Rahman, in connection with the killing of Rajan in the crossfire on May 22, 2018 in the Purohit Para area of ​​Mymensingh city. On Sunday (October 20), Rajan’s father Haroon Or Rashid filed a case in Mymensingh No. 1 Administrative Court as the plaintiff. 

Senior Judicial Magistrate Roshan Jamil took cognizance of the complaint of the plaintiff and ordered OC Kotwali to submit a report to the Model Police Station after investigating the incident. 

Other accused in the case are – Police Inspector Mokhleshur Rahman, Constable Kausar Habib, Constable Golzar, Constable Chohrab Ali, SI Farooq Ahmed, SI Parimal Chandra Das, SI Akram Hossain, ASI Abdul Majeed, ASI Jinnat Hasan Manik, ASI Zakir Hossain, ASI Zillur Rahman. , Constable Saiful, Constable Salim, Constable Rashedul, Constable Sanwar and Constable Zahirul Islam.  

Mymensingh Court Police Inspector Mostachinur Rahman said that after the complaint, the court investigated the incident and ordered OC Kotwali to submit a report. 

According to the complaint of the case, on Tuesday 22 May 2018, a team of police led by former DB OC Ashikur Rahman raided Purohit Para and took the plaintiff Harun Or Rashid’s son Rajon to the DB office for questioning. Later the plaintiff went to the DB office to see her son. But DB did not leave him even in two days. Then on the morning of May 24, the plaintiff again went to the DB office to release his son, and OC Ashikur Rahman demanded Tk 10 lakh. The plaintiff tried to collect the money and failed. Later, at 2:15 am, the policemen accompanied by OC Ashiqur Rahman took Rajan to the house of Renu Begum in south west corner of Purohitpara Railway Bhanga Wall and shot several rounds in the chest and lower abdomen to kill Rajon. Then Rajan fell down on the ground and died. The police rescued him and took him to the hospital and handed over Rajan’s body to the family after the autopsy.

Harun Or Rashid, the plaintiff in the case, said that OC Ashikur Rahman and others killed my son Rajon in crossfire due to non-payment of Tk 10 lakh. I demand exemplary punishment for those responsible in this incident.
