All public secondary schools under the Ministry of Education and private secondary schools located in Sadar Upazila of the city and district will be admitted students from first class to ninth class through lottery for the 2025 academic year.

On this occasion, online applications will be accepted from the students who want admission from November 12. The lottery will be held in December.

This information was informed in a circular signed by the director of the secondary branch of Maushi on Monday (October 28).

According to the sources of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (MAUSI), the time for accepting applications was decided in the meeting held on October 23. Applications will be accepted till November 30. After that, the admission lottery will be held in the month of December.

In this process, Maushi has asked the educational institutions for the information of vacant seats to complete the admission process. These information should be given in the prescribed manner between October 30 and November 8. The required number of students for any class stream shall not exceed 55 in any case. In the information form, the Heads of Institutions of Dhaka Metropolis will designate maximum three Thanas (Police Stations) adjacent to the institution as ‘catchment’ area.

Every year comes the end of the year and the next year’s admission process takes place. Classes start in January after admission. Earlier only the first class admission was done through lottery. But due to the spread of coronavirus, in the academic year 2021, students are admitted through lottery in all classes. Since then students are being selected for admission through the same process.

This time some changes have been made in quota admission. For example, until now there was a rule to reserve 5 percent quota for the admission of grandchildren of brave freedom fighters or martyred freedom fighters, if sons and daughters were not available.

But the new decision is that 5 percent quota will be reserved for sons and daughters of brave freedom fighters or martyred freedom fighters. If not available, this seat should be admitted from the merit list.
