Everyone loudly announced that the students will not be allowed to come down to the streets.And in continuation of that, during the ‘Bangla Blockade’ as a part of the movement, police clashed with students in various universities of the country last Thursday. Several students were injured. On this day, at least 30 people were injured in clashes with the police during the protest program in Comilla and Dhaka’s Agargaon. In protest against this, students held demonstrations in several campuses including Jagannath University (JUB), Comilla University in the capital.Meanwhile, several important sources of the government say that discussions have started within the government on how a quota can be reduced by reforming the quota system. The government wants to provide a solution acceptable to all. Though unofficially, there is a discussion between the policy makers of the government. Even after the Prime Minister’s return from China, the issue has been discussed in the government circles.On Thursday, the High Court announced the summary judgment declaring the circular issued in 2018 invalid by canceling the quota in government jobs. The summary judgment ordered restoration of quota for the children, grandchildren of the valiant freedom fighters. At the same time, it is asked to maintain quotas for districts, women, persons with disabilities, minority ethnic groups. The government can change, reduce or increase the ratio of quota if necessary. And this judgment will not create any obstacle on the government. If the quota is not filled in any public examination, the government can fill the vacant posts from the general merit list.
