900 crore remittances are coming in a day

In the first 26 days of this month of October, remittances of 194 crore 94 lakh (1.94 billion) US dollars have arrived legally in the country.


In local currency, the amount is 23 thousand 39 crores (120 rupees per dollar). Daily average remittances are about 75 million dollars or about 900 million taka.

This information is known from the updated report published by the central bank on Monday (October 27).

According to the review of the data of the Central Bank, the amount of remittances received in the country till October 26 was 547.3 million dollars through state-owned banks, 100 million dollars through a specialized bank, 1297 million dollars through private banks and 1297 million dollars through foreign banks. A remittance of 51 million US dollars has arrived.

Expatriates did not send any remittance to 9 banks during the discussed period. The banks are the state-owned Bangladesh Development Bank or BDBL, the specialized Rajshahi Agricultural Development Bank or RABAK. Private banks include Community Bank, Citizens Bank, ICB Islamic Bank and Padma Bank. And the foreign sector includes – Habib Bank, National Bank of Pakistan and State Bank of India.

In the first month of fiscal year 2024-25, 191 crore 37 lakh 70 thousand dollars came to the country in July, 222 crore 41 lakh 50 thousand dollars in August and 240 crore 47 lakh 90 thousand US dollars in September.

In the recently concluded fiscal year 2023-24, expatriates have sent remittances equivalent to two thousand 392 million US dollars. The amount of domestic currency is two lakh 82 thousand crores. The remittance figure is the second highest ever. The highest record remittance in the country’s history came in the fiscal year 2020-21 at $2,477 million.
