The market monitoring task force fined four companies, including Jessore’s largest Afil Agro, for causing instability in the egg market.
This fine was collected by raiding different places of Jessore city from 1 pm to 3 pm on Monday.
To keep the egg market stable and the supply normal, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Azaharul Islam, the market monitoring task force conducted raids in Barabazar, Chanchra Checkpost Junction and Arabpur areas of Jessore city.
At that time, they found evidence that eggs were sold at a higher price than the price set by the government in various shops.
The shopkeepers said that two wholesalers of the big market were fined Tk 20,000 after raiding the wholesale market and finding evidence of selling eggs at high prices. When they complained of not getting eggs at the stipulated price from the producer, Taxforce raided Afil Agro’s marketing center in Chanchra check post area of the city. The company was fined Tk.
Later, a raid was conducted at Chand Agro’s marketing center in Arabpur of the city, and a fine of 50,000 rupees was found as evidence of monopoly business was found.
Deputy Commissioner Azaharul Islam said that the producers of Jessore were controlling the market themselves as wholesalers and retailers. They have been warned. At the same time, the producer has been ordered to sell eggs at the price of 10 taka 38 paise. Strict action will be taken against them if they do not follow the instructions.
