Health and Family Welfare Adviser Noorjahan Begum and Information and Broadcasting Adviser Nahid Islam exchanged views with the injured in the anti-discrimination student movement. They directed the concerned parties to give utmost importance to the treatment of those injured in the movement. This exchange of views took place in the meeting room of the Ministry of Health yesterday.
The health advisor said that the injured in the movement are being treated with utmost importance. Treatment initiatives have also been taken by bringing expert doctors from abroad. Measures have also been taken to remove bureaucratic complications to provide speedy treatment to the injured. Strict action will be taken against those concerned if there is any negligence in the treatment.
Warning against corruption in the health sector, he said that any kind of corruption in the health sector will not be tolerated. Immediate action will be taken against those who commit corruption.
The information adviser said that the injured in the anti-discrimination student movement should not only be assured, but effective measures should be taken for their proper treatment.
Referring to the instructions of the chief adviser, he said that the government will bear the money required for the treatment of the injured. The government has that capability.
Urging to give utmost importance to the treatment of the injured, Nahid Islam said that their treatment should be coordinated so that they do not have to come to the government a second time. Many of those injured in the anti-discrimination student movement are emotionally devastated. He emphasized on providing counseling to them.
60 people from different classes and professions who were injured in the anti-discrimination student movement participated in the meeting. They inform about medical advances and draw the attention of the government for better treatment and employment. Senior Secretary MA Akmal Hossain Azad and General Secretary of Juli Shaheed Smriti Foundation Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdh spoke among others.
