Labor Party’s 18-point proposal in dialogue with Chief Adviser

The chief adviser of the interim government. In the dialogue with Muhammad Yunus, 18 points have been proposed by the Bangladesh Labor Party.

The dialogue was held on Saturday (October 19) around 5:30 pm at the Rashtriya Guest House, Yamuna.

Bangladesh Labor Party Chairman Dr. Besides Mostafizur Rahman Iran, General Secretary Khandaker Mirazul Islam, Industrial Adviser Adilur Rahman, Special Assistant to Chief Adviser Mahfuz Alam and Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam participated.

In the dialogue, the 18-point proposal given by the Bangladesh Labor Party for the reform of the state in the short term

1. Taking effective steps to control commodity prices by dismantling black market syndicates, introducing proactive and rationing systems in TCB, Consumer Rights and Tariff Commissions. 2. Publish the list of dead, wounded and missing in the August revolution and 17 years of anti-fascist democratic movement, provide financial assistance and provide employment to at least one person from each family. Ensuring better treatment of the injured. 3. Publish the Interim Government’s State Reform Work Plan and Election Roadmap. 4. Arresting and prosecuting the top leaders of 14 parties and Jatiya Party involved in the fascism and disenfranchisement of mass murderer Hasina.

5. Increasing the range of advisory councils with skilled, efficient and experienced people based on discussions and opinions with political parties by removing controversial and inexperienced advisers to increase dynamism and trust in government activities. 6. Corruption during the fascism of Sheikh Hasina, the mafia that has become banana trees by looting, taking action against the money laundering businessmen and taking effective steps to bring back the money smuggled out of the country in the last 15 years. 7. Apart from the removal of party leaders and corrupt officials appointed on the basis of party considerations in various government offices in the last 15 years, legal measures have been taken and clear policy of recruitment based on merit and skills in government and semi-government jobs has been created and appointment commissions have been formed and all appointments have been made through competition. 8. In the name of reshuffle, measures were taken to identify those who rehabilitated Awami League in police and administration including DC-SP.

9. Reorganize the ACC and form a strong anti-corruption commission comprising of competent persons. 10. Searching for new labor market and sending skilled workers abroad with G2G system along with creating opportunities to export garments and products to Europe and other countries with US GSP facilities. 11. To introduce the Caretaker Government System Act on a permanent basis and to amend Article 70 of the Constitution with the aim of holding fair, impartial and acceptable national elections. 12. Declaring it illegal for government officials to participate in elections within five years of their retirement.

13. Ensuring that the winning party or coalition in the national elections receives 51% of the votes in forming the government, or holding new elections. 14. In the case of appointment of Returning and Assistant Returning Officers, introduction of provisions for appointment of District and Upazila Election Officers and provision of magisterial powers to enforce election code of conduct. 15. Repeal the National Identity Card Act 2023 and place it in the Election Commission from the Ministry of Home Affairs. 16. Executive powers of the President, Prime Minister and Cabinet should be balanced. 17. Bicameral parliament and making the term of parliament four years. 18. Providing embassy services in countries where Bangladesh does not have an embassy and ensuring voting rights of expatriates in the upcoming elections.
