Türkiye has allocated a total of 47 billion for the defense and security sector for next year. The defense and security budget is the highest in the country’s history. The allocation was shown in a government budget proposal on Thursday.
Turkish Vice President Sevdet Yilmaz said in a briefing at the Presidency that the government aims to allocate 913.9 billion Turkish Liras to the defense sector. Which is 26.8 billion dollars. It will also include the 165 billion lira required for the Defense Industry Support Fund.
The budget has allocated 694.5 billion liras to the domestic security sector. which will be used at the expense of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Police, National Intelligence Agency and other related agencies.
Turkey’s defense spending has been steadily increasing in recent years. The defense and security budget for 2024 was about USD 40 billion. From there, defense spending is increasing by 17.5 percent in 2025.
