Adviser on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs explained his statement about the time of the national election. Asif Nazrul He said, elections are very important ‘policy decisions’. Its timing will be fixed under the leadership of the chief adviser to the government. He is the only one who has the power to declare during elections.
Adviser Asif Nazrul said this in his Facebook post in an explanation about the election today.
In response to a question on a TV channel program last Thursday night, he said that elections may be possible by next year. But he thinks there are many ‘factors’ in it. He also said that this is his initial estimate.
Explaining this statement, the legal adviser said in a Facebook post, ‘In a recent TV discussion, I said that elections may be possible within the next year, but there are many factors in this case. I did not get a chance to fully explain these factors there. But everyone will understand from the words of our government that elections are about reforms and political compromise. These are the factors.’
Asif Nazrul said, I also spoke about reforms in the event. Some other factors I have explained in the programme, like formation of search committee and election commission, preparation of voter list etc. If these factors are right, the election may be held next year. That said, this is also my initial guess.
He said these conditional ideas and assumptions are being shown by some media as announcements during elections. Honestly, this is not correct. Elections are very important ‘policy decisions’. Its timing will be fixed under the leadership of the chief adviser to the government. He alone has the authority to declare it.
