Russia is testing the combat readiness of a unit equipped with Yars intercontinental ballistic missiles northwest of Moscow, multiple news agencies quoted the Defense Ministry as saying on Friday.

Ears can be placed in tunnels and active launchers. It has a range of up to 11,000 kilometers and is capable of launching multiple multi-purpose nuclear warheads.

Russia has conducted a series of nuclear drills this year. In this regard, security analysts say, these exercises were conducted to send a message that the West should not interfere more widely in the Ukraine war.

In the same week that the US-led military alliance NATO held its annual nuclear drills and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky unveiled his ‘victory plan’, Russia held its latest drills.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said last month that Moscow had listed a number of scenarios that could have forced it to use nuclear weapons. Ukraine accuses Moscow of blackmailing it with nuclear weapons.

In the latest test, a unit in the Tvor region will practice firing Yars missiles up to 100 km in camouflage on the field and protecting them from airstrikes and enemy insurgent groups. This was reported by Interfax, citing the Ministry of Defense.

Russia previously conducted two exercises with Yars missile units in July. They have conducted three exercises this year to test the readiness of the strategic nuclear missiles to launch.

During the war, Putin repeatedly reminded that Russia has the world’s largest nuclear arsenal. But he insisted they would not need to use nuclear weapons to achieve victory in Ukraine.
