Chief Justice Syed Refat Ahmed has reorganized 54 benches of the High Court excluding 12 judges sent on leave. Trials will continue in these benches from next Sunday.
The formation of 54 benches has been confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the Supreme Court. Shafiqul Islam.
It was decided yesterday to send 12 judges of the High Court on leave due to allegations of corruption and irregularities.
Among the 12 judges sent on leave are Naima Haider, Khurshid Alam Sarkar, Md. Ataur Rahman Khan, Khizir Hayat, Shahed Nur Uddin, SM Moniruzzaman, Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Khondkar Diliruzzaman, Md. Aminul Islam, SM Masud Hossain Dolan, Ashish Ranjan Das and Sheikh Hasan Arif.
Yesterday, Supreme Court Registrar General Aziz Ahmad Bhuya confirmed the matter and said that 12 judges are not being given benches. This means, they cannot administer justice. And the demand for the resignation of judges, in this case, the president appoints judges, and the president also removes them. Here he did what the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court should do. And on October 20, the Attorney General’s Office will raise the matter in court. What happens in stages will be known.
It is known that in the morning, the Chief Justice invited 12 High Court judges for tea. There are various allegations of corruption and irregularities against them. Besides, they are alleged to have worked as allies of the Awami League government. Meanwhile, 12 judges were invited to tea in the morning. Later they were sent on leave.
