A strong earthquake of magnitude 5.9 was felt in the eastern part of Turkey. The earthquake was felt in the morning local time on Wednesday.
Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said the earthquake was felt in Maltiya province at 10:46 a.m. local time. Its center was in Kale district, about 40 km east of Maltia city.
AFAD also said there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. But our team is alert and field scanning operation is going on.
In addition, the earthquake was also felt in Syria’s Hasqah, Deir al-Zor and Aleppo provinces, the country’s state news agency reported.
Meanwhile, the European Mediterranean Seismological Center reported that the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.1. The origin of this earthquake was 9 km underground from the surface.
