Israeli airstrikes south of Beirut

The Israeli military launched an airstrike south of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. The attack on Wednesday came shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he was rejecting the possibility of a ceasefire with Hezbollah. 

According to AFP, the Israeli military ordered residents to evacuate the Haret Hareik area of ​​the capital Beirut before the attack. A plume of black smoke could be seen billowing from several multi-storied buildings in the on-call attack.

Earlier on Tuesday, at least 23 people were killed and another 31 injured in a series of airstrikes in several cities and regions in southern and eastern Lebanon.

Lebanon’s official news agency said the attacks targeted the districts of Nabatih, Bint Jbeil and Marzayoun, as well as Tire and Zejin in southern Lebanon. On the other hand, airstrikes took place in Jahleh and West Bekaa districts in East Lebanon.

Israel has been carrying out massive airstrikes across Lebanon since September 23, claiming to attack Hezbollah targets. It has killed more than 1500 people and displaced more than 1 million people from their homes so far.
