In the last 24 hours, 1,108 more people have been admitted to hospitals across the country due to Aedes mosquito-borne dengue. Eight more people died during this time. As a result, the number of deaths due to mosquito-borne diseases has increased to 223 this year.
Among the victims are 338 people from the two city corporation areas of Dhaka. Also 281 people in Dhaka Division, 160 in Chittagong Division, 101 in Barisal Division, 122 in Khulna Division, 30 in Mymensingh Division, 52 in Rajshahi Division, 18 in Rangpur Division and 6 in Sylhet Division have been admitted to hospital.
From January 1 to October 15 of this year, a total of 44 thousand 764 people were admitted to the hospital due to dengue infection. Of whom 63.30 percent are men and 36.70 percent are women. Apart from this, 51.60 percent of the dead 223 are women and 48.40 percent are men.
Dengue outbreaks occur every year during the rainy season. From June 2023, the dengue situation became dire. Last year 3 lakh 21 thousand 179 patients were admitted to the hospital and received treatment in the country. Among them, 100,800 people were treated in Dhaka and 211,171 people outside Dhaka.
Among the affected, 3 lakh 18 thousand 749 people have recovered from the hospital and returned home. Last year, 1,705 people died of the mosquito-borne disease, the highest single-year death toll in the country’s history.
Earlier in 2019, 1 lakh 1 thousand 354 people were infected with dengue nationwide. Around 300 people including doctors and health workers died at that time.
During the corona epidemic in 2020, dengue infection was not seen much, but in 2021, 28 thousand 429 people were infected with dengue fever across the country. 105 people died of dengue that year.
