Manjurul Islam, central president of Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir, said, “Ethics, Islam and the own civilization and culture of the Muslims of the subcontinent have been ignored in our education system.”
He said this at the reception ceremony of ‘HSC and Alim exam students’ organized by Shibir’s Dhaka Metropolitan South in an auditorium of Jatrabari in the capital on Tuesday (October 15).
Manjurul Islam was the chief guest at the reception held under the chairmanship of Metropolitan President Alauddin and moderated by Secretary Helal Uddin.
In the speech of the chief guest, Manjurul Islam said, “This year, more than 1.4 lakh students participated in the examination of HSC and Alim in the country, out of which more than 10 lakh passed. It is certainly positive in terms of numbers, but overall does not play a proper role in place of skills or competence, which demands a rethinking of our education system.’
He complained, ‘The education system has been structured in such a way that an international and domestic circle is able to control us. As a result, students are failing to acquire real skills and qualifications, which has become a major challenge for the future development of the country.’
Congratulating the students who obtained GPA-5 in HSC and Alim examinations, he said, ‘Just as you led the 24th movement to remove dictatorship from this country, you must be aware of removing the hegemony from all departments including the education system.’
