Italy, Britain, France and Germany have called the Israeli attack on the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon a violation of international humanitarian law.

In a joint statement, the four countries reaffirmed the UN’s ‘vital stabilizing role’ in southern Lebanon. At the same time, Israel and other countries have stressed the need to ensure the safety of peacekeepers.

In a report, the British media The Guardian gave this news.

Earlier, the United Nations reported that Israeli tanks had entered their base. This is one of the recent accusations against the Israeli forces. Along with the United Nations, the United States and Israel’s allies also condemned the allegations.

The UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, which has hundreds of European troops, has come under repeated Israeli military attacks in recent days. Meanwhile, Israel has called on the United Nations to withdraw peacekeepers in the operation against Hezbollah. In response, the United Nations said attacks on peacekeepers would be considered war crimes.

The Israeli military took foreign journalists to southern Lebanon on Sunday to show them a Hezbollah tunnel. It is located less than 200 meters from the UN peacekeepers position. Brigadier General Eftach Norkin said, “We are actually standing in a Hezbollah military base, which is close to the United Nations.”

Since the announcement of the Israeli ground operation, they have claimed to have destroyed many Hezbollah tunnels, rocket launchers and command posts. However, this claim could not be independently verified. The United Nations says Israel’s reckless attacks pose a growing threat to peacekeepers.

In this direction, the United Nations Security Council expressed deep concern on Monday after the wounding of UN peacekeepers in Lebanon by Israel.
