Shaun and his friend went to Kuakata with family members for vacation. Who knew that would be the last time they would see the mermaid. On the way back from the beach, 8 people of two families died instantly in an accident. Their private car lost control and fell into the canal on the side of the road at Noorani Gate area of Kadamtala Union on Pirojpur-Nazirpur road. All died in this incident last Wednesday around 2 am.
Between the two families, Shaon’s village home is in Hoglabunia village of Nazirpur upazila of Pirojpur. He wanted to spend some time at the village house with his friend’s family members on his way back. But Salil Samadhi is everyone’s accident.
The deceased are Shaon Mridha (32), his wife Amena Begum (25), sons Shahadat (10) and Abdullah (3) of Hoglabunia village of Nazirpur. Other family members are Nazimuddin’s son Motaleb Hossain (38), his wife Sabina Khatun (30), daughter Mukta (12) and son Swaib (4) of Raghunathpur village in Kamaria union of Sherpur Sadar upazila. Shaon did business in Dhaka and lived in Aminbazar with his family. He went to Kuakata in his own car and was driving the car himself.
And Motaleb was a civilian class IV employee of the army.
Locals said that they tried to rescue a private car after realizing that it had lost control and fell into the canal around 2 am. They reported the incident to the chowkidars, dafadars of the union and informed the police. Later, they were rescued with the help of fire service and taken to Pirojpur District Hospital, where doctors declared them dead.
Pirojpur District Hospital Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr. Nizam Uddin said eight people were brought to the hospital in a private car accident. But they died before being brought to the hospital.
Pirojpur Sadar Police Station OC Abdus Sobahan said, the body was handed over to the family members in the afternoon after legal arrangements were made.
Meanwhile, Pirojpur Superintendent of Police Khan Muhammad Abu Naser visited the spot on Thursday morning. He said, it is believed that the accident happened because the driver of the car was tired and under the cover of sleep.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ashraful Alam said that a three-member investigation committee headed by the Additional District Magistrate has been formed regarding the accident. Apart from this, the family members of the deceased have been given financial assistance by the district administration.
Shaon’s mother Kahinur Begum fainted repeatedly after hearing the news of her son’s death. He was shouting, ‘Why did Allah take my Bazan instead of me? Who will call mother, grandmother will call. What shall I do now?’
Meanwhile, the atmosphere of Motaleb’s home became heavy with mourning after hearing the news of Motaleb’s death. Old parents driven mad by the death of only son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. The only sister burst into tears.
They have nothing but housing in Motaleb’s village. Father Nazimuddin said Motaleb got a fourth class job in the army through outsourcing. Three years ago, his job became government. The son used to send money every month to run their family. They used that money somehow. It all ended with the death of his son.
Cousin Abbas Uddin said, Motalebra are two siblings. As the family died, there was no one left to light the light of his family.
On the other hand, a person named Shibu Sarkar (40) was killed in a collision between a bus and a motorcycle in Gopalganj. The accident happened yesterday morning at a place called Mandartala on the Dhaka-Khulna highway. Motorcyclist Shibu Gopalganj is the son of Abhimanyu Sarkar of Borashi village of Sadar Upazila.
A madrasa teacher named Habib Ullah (30) died after a motorcycle collided with a truck standing on the highway in Bhola. The accident happened last Wednesday night in Kashemganj area of Charfasan-Shashibhushan road. The deceased teacher is Shamsul Uloom Noorani of Ward No. 2 Ewajpur and assistant teacher of Hafizi Madrasa and son of Muzzammel Haque of that village. Yesterday Habib Ullah’s cousin lecturer. Russell sued the truck driver Jewel as the plaintiff.
A cyclist named Saiful Islam (30) was killed by a truck in Dinajpur’s Phulbari. The accident took place yesterday afternoon at a place called Putkia on the Dinajpur Regional Highway. Later the driver left the truck at the oil pump and fled. Saiful is the son of Aminul Islam of Dakshin Mornai village of Parvatipur upazila.
