At least 10 people, including five medical workers, were killed in an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon. The attack took place late last Wednesday night. A statement from Lebanon’s civil defense said five of its personnel were killed in an Israeli attack on a civil defense center in the town of Dardghaia in Tire district. They were all on duty and ready to respond to emergencies.

At the same time, Lebanon’s health ministry said five more people were killed and 12 wounded in an Israeli airstrike in the town of Wardanieh in the same district. However, no details were given about the severity of their injuries. The ministry also said that the remains of some other victims are being identified through DNA tests. Since September 23, Israel has been carrying out massive airstrikes in various parts of Lebanon. Israel claims that they are targeting Hizbullah positions. So far, more than 1 thousand 323 people have been killed and about 3 thousand 700 people have been injured in these attacks. Besides, more than 1.2 million people have been displaced.

The airstrikes have escalated the long-standing border conflict between Israel and Hezbollah into new tensions. Especially since Tel Aviv’s barbaric attack on the Gaza Strip. About 42,000 people have been killed so far in this attack, most of them women and children. The situation started after an attack by Hamas last year.

According to the Lebanese authorities, 2 thousand 141 people have been killed and 10 thousand 99 wounded in the Israeli attack so far. Moreover, Israel has escalated the conflict by launching ground operations in southern Lebanon since October 1. Despite the warnings of the international community, there are fears of a major war in the Middle East.
