3 more deaths in dengue, 1033 in hospital

3 more people died due to dengue fever carried by Aedes mosquito. The death due to dengue has increased to 196 people. Meanwhile, 1 thousand 33 new people were admitted to the hospital.


This information was informed in a press release sent from the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Department of Health on Wednesday (October 9) evening.

It is said that in the last 24 hours, 1 thousand 33 people were infected with dengue and admitted to the hospital. 3 people died during this time. Two of the deceased are residents of Dhaka South City Corporation and the other is a resident of Dhaka North City.

Among the newly infected, 427 people from the two city corporation areas of Dhaka have been infected. Also, 208 people in Dhaka Division, 131 in Chittagong Division, 86 in Barisal Division, 80 in Khulna Division, 32 in Mymensingh Division, 59 in Rajshahi Division, 7 in Rangpur Division and 3 in Sylhet Division.

From January 1 to October 9, a total of 39 thousand 822 people were admitted to the hospital with dengue, of which 63.30 percent were men and 36.70 percent were women. Of the 196 dead, 50 percent were women and 50 percent were men.

Dengue outbreaks occur every year during the rainy season. From June 2023, the dengue situation became dire. Last year, 321 thousand 179 patients were admitted to hospitals in the country, including 110 thousand 8 people in Dhaka and 211 thousand 171 people outside Dhaka.

3 lakh 18 thousand 749 people returned home after recovery. Last year, 1,705 people died of dengue, the highest death toll in a single year in the country’s history.

In 2019, 1 lakh 1 thousand 354 people were infected with dengue and about 300 people died. In 2020, due to the corona pandemic, dengue transmission was low, but in 2021, 28,429 people were infected with dengue and 105 died. A total of 62,382 people were hospitalized for dengue in 2022, of which 281 died.
