There was an incident of firing and clashes between BNP leaders and activists on their way back after a function in Gazipur. . Shafiqul Islam Titu (45), former joint general secretary of Mahanagar Jubo Dal and Sabed Talukdar (52), adviser of Ward No. 27 BNP, who were shot in this incident, were taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital and prominent Jubo Dal leader Aliullah Tuhin was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The attack took place in front of the city’s Kali Mandir after the donation distribution ceremony at 106 puja mandaps in the city on Monday (October 7) afternoon.
It is known that the event was organized by M Manjurul Karim Roni, General Secretary of Gazipur Metropolitan BNP on the occasion of upcoming Durga Puja. In the absence of Roni, Mehdi Hasan Ellis, President of Mahanagar Sadar Police Station, General Secretary Saiful Islam Tutul, BNP Leader GS Suruj Ahmed, Hannan Mia Hannu, Dr. Shahiduzzaman, Ahmad Ali Ruzdi, Monirul Islam Monir, Mofazzal Hossain Chairman, Gazi Salauddin and Mahanagar Kalimandir were present at the event. Later at the railway crossing area outside the Kalimandir, the leaders and activists participating in the event had an argument among themselves due to previous enmity. At one point there was an incident of firing and attack with chapati between them. The three were injured.
According to a source of BNP in Mahanagara, a youth was hacked to death in North Chayabithi area of the city a month ago due to dominance. This attack may have happened because of that.
Hannan Mia Hannu, the former councilor who was present at the event, said that the attack happened after we left after the event. The incident may have happened due to previous enmity.
In this regard, Gazipur Metropolitan BNP President Shaukat Hossain Sarkar said, Metropolitan BNP General Secretary Manjurul Kabir Roni had a program. Rony is currently out of the country. I heard that the attack happened because of a previous dispute between two sides of his supporters there.
Sheikh Farid, resident doctor of Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital, said that an injured person was brought to the hospital in the afternoon. There are sharp cuts on his back.
Nazir Ahmed Khan, Deputy Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (North), said that he heard that the attack and firing were due to previous enmity. The arrest of those involved in the incident has been ordered.
