Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajib Wazed Joy has been granted bail in the case of kidnapping and attempted murder.
On Thursday (October 3) he appealed against the sentence and sought bail, but the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge As Samch Jaglul Hossain granted him bail.
Earlier, last Sunday (September 29) he surrendered in the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubul Haque and applied for bail on the condition of appeal. At the end of the hearing, the judge rejected his bail plea and ordered him to be sent to jail.
It is to be noted that in the case of kidnapping and attempted murder of Sajib Wazed Joy, the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor of Dhaka on August 17 last year sentenced 5 people, including acting editor of Amar Desh Patrika Mahmudur Rahman and journalist Shafiq Rehman, to seven years of rigorous imprisonment.
