The court granted a two-day remand to former Member of Parliament (MP) of Khulna-4 Constituency, former president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and former senior vice-president of Bangladesh Football Federation (BAFUF) Abdus Salam Murshedi in the murder case. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aktaruzzaman ordered the remand after hearing the ten-day remand application.
The former MP has been remanded in the case of murder of Garment worker Rubel filed at Adabar police station in the capital. Earlier on Tuesday night, Salam Murshedi was saluted from Bashundhara residential area of the capital.
Garment worker Rubel’s father Rafiqul Islam filed the case at Adabar police station on August 22 as the plaintiff. There are 156 accused in the case including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, Shakib Al Hasan. Another 400-500 unidentified people have been accused.
It is said in the case that on August 5, Rubel took part in a protest march at Ring Road in Adabar. At that time, with the direct and indirect instructions, instigation, help, cooperation and direct support of the accused, someone fired at the procession. Rubel was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen and died on August 7.
