The interim government has published the gazette canceling the notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs banning Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Islamic student camps.
On Wednesday (August 28) at noon, the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a new notification canceling the previous order in this regard.
It said, ‘Since no concrete evidence of involvement of all organizations including Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its student organization Islami Chhatrashibir in terrorism and violence has been found and since the government believes that all organizations including Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its student organization Islami Chhatrashibir are not involved in terrorist activities. ‘ For this reason the previous notification has been cancelled.
Earlier, during the ousted Awami League government, on August 1, the Home Ministry issued a notification banning Jamaat, student camps and their other organizations under Section 18 (1) of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
At this time, the movement of students against the government was going on. On August 5, the government fell in a popular uprising by students and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country.
