Three passengers in a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw were killed after being run over by a truck in Mirsrai Upazila area of Dhaka-Chittagong highway. At that time, the autorickshaw driver and three others were injured.
The incident took place on Tuesday (October 15) at noon in the upazila’s Baratakia Khaiachhara Jharna area.
The deceased are Nurjahan Begum (45), Kajal Rekha (22) and 6-month-old baby Anas. Among them, Nurjahan Begum and Kajal Rekha are mother-daughter relationships.
Imam Hossain Patwari, Station Officer of Mirsrai Fire Service, said that a fire service team reached the spot after receiving the news of the accident. It is known from the locals that a Dhaka-bound truck hit the auto-rickshaw. Casualties have occurred.
He also said that initially it was known that there were 6 passengers in the autorickshaw. Three of them died on the spot. They were rescued and handed over to the police. One of the three injured is in critical condition. He was admitted to the hospital.
